HOMUR HOMUR

Synopsis

People say there’s no right place or time to show your love to the one you love. But what if that love is between people of the same gender, right in the middle of the street?

Overview

Homur Homur is my first personal animated short film, a five-minute stop-motion project produced at university. The film explores themes of visibility, affection, and social perception through a simple yet intimate moment between two people of the same gender in a public space. Homur Homur, a Turkish reduplication meaning “grumblingly,” reflects the quiet disapproval of people around the couple. Its handmade stop-motion style mirrors the vulnerability and warmth of human connection. I was responsible for character design and animation direction. The film has been selected by over 20 festivals worldwide.
